Sumo Morning Training Watchinig Experience (in Osaka / Feb. - Mar.) in 2026

Sumo is highly popular among visitors who wish to experience authentic Japanese culture.
However, sumo is not merely a martial art; it is deeply rooted in Shinto traditions and serves as a place for spiritual discipline. Many tourists who are unaware of this background may unintentionally behave inappropriately, such as pointing their feet toward the wrestlers, speaking loudly, or taking photos with shutter sounds.
To ensure that training is not disrupted, it is important to explain the traditions and proper etiquette of sumo in visitors’ native languages. For this purpose, we will provide an interpreter/guide who can teach the correct manners.
All tour participants are required to review the rules for visiting a sumo training hall, as outlined in the “Notes on Application” section of the application form. Participants who fail to follow these rules may be asked to leave the tour.
The tour guide will pick participants up at their hotel (within 30 minutes of JR Osaka Station or Namba Station) and explain the rules and etiquette for visiting a sumo stable.
Although many sumo stables do not accept foreign visitors, we will make every effort to arrange a visit to a stable that allows entry.

If you cancel your reservation, the following cancellation rates and remittance charge will be charged.
(1) 14 days - 3 days prior to the program date: 20 % of the program fee
(2) 2 days of the day before the program date: 50 % of the program fee

- ◆ This program is not available for children under 11 years old. We also do not recommend this activity for those with mobility issues, as guests will be asked to sit crossed-legged on the floor for a considerable amount of time (cushions are provided).
◆ The total duration of the tour varies. A training session can be anywhere between 30 minutes and 3 hours, depending on the stable schedule. In the case that you receive a shorter experience, our guide will also provide a short walking tour during the remaining time.
