WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
The following is a guide to the major facilities in this area.
(1) Kiyomizu Temple
Kiyomizu-Dera Temple, with a history of 1,250 years, is named after the abundant spring water. The temple has long been open to and loved by the common people, and its stage, which commands a panoramic view of Kyoto, is a must-see spot in Kyoto.
(2) Kenninji Temple
This is the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto, founded by Eisai, the founder of Zen Buddhism. It is famous for Tawaraya Sotatsu's painting of the Wind and Thunder Gods.
