The Tokyo National Museum in Ueno, the largest museum in Japan, and Yanaka, a popular downtown area and home to many artists, are explored for art purposes.
Visitors can visit large museums as well as small art galleries where they can meet the artists. You can also see Western-style architecture of old Japan and Japanese-style architecture.
Visitors can enjoy the atmosphere and charm of the Ueno Yanaka area by experiencing the temples and art in this temple town area.
HIGHLIGHT
◆We will visit the Tokyo National Museum, which houses artifacts from ancient times, Buddhist statues, paintings, Ukiyoe woodblock prints, Japanese swords, tea ceremony utensils, and modern art.
◆The tour visits several small but fascinating art galleries scattered throughout the area. Some galleries offer the opportunity to speak with the artists themselves.
◆We will visit the International Library of Children's Literature and other modern retro architecture.
◆We will visit the historic Yanaka Cemetery, where the Shogun was buried. The cemetery is light and peaceful.
◆You will also visit Gokokuin Temple, which is one of the most elegant temple towns in the area, and Enjuji Temple's Nikkado Hall.
◆A certified guide will explain the area’s history. This walking tour takes you from Ueno to Yanaka (Nippori Station), so you can efficiently explore the two areas.
*The gallery locations that are open vary by day. We will guide you to the gallery that is open on that day.
*Artists may not be available when we go to the galleries.

Tour Stops:
・Tokyo National Museum
This is the largest museum and art gallery in Japan. It has a collection of paintings, arts and crafts, and sculptures from ancient to modern times.
・International Library of Children's Literature
The library is a fusion of modern and retro architecture.
・Art Gallery
You will visit several small and attractive art galleries scattered around the area.You can talk with the artists themselves in some of the galleries.
・haco gallery
An art gallery where the exhibits change every week. You can talk with the artist.*The artist may not be available at the time of the tour.
・Edokoro Alan West
Visit the studio of Alan West, a Japanese folding screen painter.If the temple is not open, we will not visit.
・SCAI The Bath House
This is a contemporary art gallery repurposed from a former public bathhouse.
・Gokokuin Temple
We will visit a tasteful temple dedicated to Daikokuten, the god of prosperity and good harvests.
・Yanaka Cemetery
We will visit a historic cemetery where the Shogun was buried. It is a bright and peaceful cemetery. You can learn more about Japanese customs.

(1) 14 days - 3 days prior to the program date: 20 % of the program fee
(2) 2 days of the day before the program date: 50 % of the program fee
(3) a day before the program date: 100 % of the program fee
