[from your Hotel at Yokohama] Kamakura West Course around the Great Buddha and Hase Temple
PE002ZZ25
Kamakura is a city rich in history, the site of Japan's first samurai-created government.
It is a metropolitan suburban resort city with a long beach. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Japan with many mansions of millionaires. Kamakura is also a city where traditional culture and new culture such as fashionable cafes are in harmony. It would be great to walk around with a tourist guide who is familiar with this area.
HIGHLIGHT
[Itinerary] from your Hotel at Yokohama > Hase Station (Enoden) > Kotokuin Big Buddha > Hase Temple > Yigahama Beach > Tour End : Yuigahama Station or Hase Station (Enoden)
(1) Kotokuin Temple and the Great Buddha
As we enter Kotokuin Temple, the Great Buddha looms over us with overwhelming power against the mountains. He has a very gentle, kind, and handsome face, and a famous female poet once sang affectionately of him, “He is a beautiful man”.
The Daibutsu was built in the 13th century. At that time, the technology to build such an enormous statue was astonishing. Being exposed in wind and rain for 500 years, the Daibutsu is the only Buddhist statue in Kamakura that has been designated a national treasure.
(2) Hase Temple
This temple has a beautiful garden spreading across the entire slope of the mountain. Looking at the pond on both sides, visitors ascending the stairs will see numerous small Jizo statues. Further up the steps, we can see a shining golden statue of the eleven-faced Kannon enshrined in a large hall. From the gazebo, you will see the blue sea spreading before your eyes, and the Miura Peninsula beyond the curved sandy beach.
(3) Yuigahama Beach
A premier beach destination in the Kanto region, Yuigahama is especially lively in the summer, attracting visitors who enjoy swimming and marine sports.
The beach also offers beautiful seaside scenery year-round, capturing the charm of Kamakura in every season.
