(2) Tsumago-juku
Tsumago-juku is Japan's first Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The scenery surrounded by mountains and the peaceful and emotional townscape stir the traveler's emotions.
(3) Torii Pass (walking)
Torii Pass, which runs from Yabuhara-juku to Narai-juku, was famous as one of the most difficult sections of the Nakasendo for travelers in the Edo period, making their straw sandals weep. Thinking of the travelers of the past, you will cross the pass on your own feet.

Narai-juku, the highest of the 11 Kiso inns and located near the difficult Torii Pass, once prospered with many travelers and was called “Narai Senken”. The townscape has been selected as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and retains strong traces of its past.
