Yokohama Walking Tour Standard Course
E016
Yokohama is Japan's second largest city, with a population of 3.7 million. It is the largest port city in Japan and was the city most open to foreign countries in Japan in the past.
That is why it is a city where various cultures from around the world intersect with Japanese culture. We will visit three of Yokohama's representative tourist facilities.
HIGHLIGHT
You will meet your guide at Sakuragi-cho Station on the Keihin Tohoku Line and take public transportation to Sankeien. After visiting Sankeien, we will go to Yamashita Park by taxi. After that, we will walk around the Red Brick Warehouse and Minato Mirai. The tour will end at either Minato Mirai Station or Sakuragi-cho Station.
Sankeien Garden: This garden was opened to the public in 1906 (Meiji 39) by Sankei Hara, a businessman who made his fortune through the silk trade. In the spacious garden, historically valuable buildings relocated from Kyoto, Kamakura, and other areas are skillfully arranged. There are 17 buildings, including 10 important cultural properties and 3 tangible cultural properties designated by the City of Yokohama, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of Japanese architecture and gardens together.
Yamashita Park: Facing the Port of Yokohama (one of the five ports opened after the national isolation), the view to the sea, Yokohama Bay Bridge and ships passing through the port is a romantic scene.
Red Brick Warehouse: This historical building was constructed as a model warehouse for the government in the late Meiji era and early Taisho period. Visitors can enjoy shopping and a variety of food.
